My wedding I do’s and don’ts

1.)DO GET A GREAT DRESS MAKER: Why spend thousands of rands on a dress you wear once? Of course you want your dream dress and you want to feel like the centre of the earth, just for this one day, but at what cost? Of course if you can afford to, then that’s a different story. I couldn’t find this Designer Wedding Dress by Kleinfeld in S.A let alone afford to ship it in. So Suzy Reynolds (0833986323) did a sterling  job inspired by the pics I gave her.

2.) DON’T MAKE ANY PROMISES: Don’t promise your flower girl a double scoop of ice cream if she keeps her wreath on down the isle. She will ask for her vanilla dream all the way down the isle, and while your signing the registry, and through the speeches….

3.)DO: Tell the bad asses the wedding starts 30 Minutes before it does…

4) GET THE BEST DJ YOU CAN AFFORD: To keep the dance floor going all night, keep your bar and your dance floor next to each other – and use Kevin from Mercury.

5.) DON’T STRESS: Your dress will stretch as the night goes on, and by the end of the evening you’ll be pulling it up ever 5 minutes. Tip: Sew thin straps in the inside of your dress that you can whip out at the end of the evening, if you’re going strapless.

6.) DON’T: Order 34 Degrees on your wedding day, your bar tap WILL be high.

7.) DON’T: Don’t spend too long taking photo’s. Your guest will get bored and drunk.

10:) DO: However do order lots of champagne so you don’t run out during the eve! Your guests will love you for that! And you’ll love having stock long after the wedding’s over to remind you of your special day every time you Cheers!

9.) BEST TIP: Do take time out just the two of you on your big day and just stand back for 5 minutes and watch it all unfold in front of you, as before you know it, it will be over.

Wedding week

Watch out every day this week for wedding inspiration and tips. Happy Wedding Planning dear ‘Brides To Be!’

I thought these Essie Winter Collection Colours would make for a great wedding pallet. I see it’s already been done!

This candy coloured mood board is from Style Me Pretty. One of the best wedding blogs around.

My styling week

I started the week sourcing for two shoots. I always love sourcing at Kids Living, I found some really cute things for my Fit Pregnancy Decor Shoot.

I often get lead a stray on sourcing trips, I had to pop into Poetry when I saw this ceramic platter in the window. It’s on my wish list!

Off to Flowermill to collect canvases for my decor shoot. Deborah gave me a sneak peak at the gorgeous journals made especially for Design Indaba.

The next day was off to shoot for Ackermans with Marguerite Oelofse. Let me tell you, there are some cute little coats coming out this winter, nothing over R300.

Organized chaos in the hair and make-up department..

The next day, more organized chaos unpacking shopping bags for my decor shoot with Neville Lockhart.

Saturday was off to the Design Indaba. Wow, South African Designers can be proud. A hall full of talent, colour and inspiration. A Separate post to follow on that!
