BEAUTY FEATURE FRIDAY: QMS MEDICOSMETICS

Last week Friday I went to experience a QMS Medicosmetics facial. And boy was it an experience. This is very different to any other facial I’ve tried.

QMS Medicosmetics was started by Dr. Med. Erich Shultze, originally a Maxilla Facial Surgeon. When working on patients with severe burns, infection etc . .  he found that collagen was enabling the skin to heel and regenerate faster, and so further studied the benefits and ways to use collagen.

He eventually developed QMS Medicosmetics as a complete skincare and rejuvenation system of products available for use by other surgeons, in beauty salons, spas and at home.

Starting the facial, one goes through the usual cleansing and toning regime. The cleanser is a cleansing milk that can be used as a make-up remover as well, breaking down dirt that keeps dead skin cells cemented to the surface of your face.

The Toner contains no Alcohol, and can just be patted onto the face should you be out of cotton pads.

Next an Exfoliant Fluid is applied to the face and massaged in. From the website:

Benefits

  • Stimulates cell regeneration
  • Optimizes the penetration of active ingredients
  • Improves skin structure giving it a bright and luminous complexion
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dissolves the intracellular glue
  • Optimum preparation of the skin for the collagen products that follow this application

Afterwards a thick purple alginate mask is applied. It feels amazing. The mask actually goes over your eyes and mouth. ( You can opt out of that if you’re claustrophobic or have a sinus cold icon smile BEAUTY FEATURE FRIDAY: QMS MEDICOSMETICS  ) Once the mask is dry, it is pulled of, pulling all the dead skin cells along with it. It’s really interesting, as you can then see the imprint of your face. Where you’re dehydrated, have the strongest wrinkles etc…

I’m going to have Anel, QMS therapist and expert explain the rest, in pink , (As she’s better than I would be!)

BENEFITS of the Algae mask:

1.       To remove loosened dead skin cells from the skin surface (after exfoliation)

2.       To hydrate and soothe the skin after the Exfoliating products

3.       To get an imprint of the client’s skin.  We analyze this with the client to see where the problem areas are.

Collagens  (applied as a serum)

After the Alginate mask we apply the collagen to the skin.  There is a 15% deeper penetration of the collagens when you apply them after the whole exfoliating process, ie after the alginate mask.  The collagens plump, hydrate and repair the skin.

Oxygen

We use our Oxygen machine to get an even better penetration of the collagen.  This machine produces 98% pure oxygen that is applied directly to the skin (there is just 21% of oxygen in the air that we breathe).  The oxygen is a fantastic carrier of the active ingredients into the skin.

(This is the most relaxing feeling, as the cool air blows on your face in small concentrated bursts!)

Benefits of the oxygen is:

  • improved skin metabolism
  • improved circulation
  • repairing mechanisms improved
  • regeneration of skin cells

Last mask:  Warm Plaster of Paris mask which is applied on top of a creamy mask.  This creamy mask is called Relax-o-Firm mask and it has the following benefits:

  • ‘botox-like’ effect as it relaxes micro-contractions of facial muscles
  • Soothes damaged skins,
  • Nourishes and hydrates deeply

I have been reaping the benefits of this treatment. My skin is certainly smoother and looks healthy, and I’ve also found  my new favourite secret weapon, The QMS Sport Active Tinted Moisturizer. It provides a dewy, natural and sheer looking coverage. Addicted!
