Kimakai wellness centre

Last Friday I went to the KimaKai Skin Wellness Centre and experienced the KimaKai Signature Body Massage. This massage is a fusion of music & various massage techniques, designed for ultimate relaxation & inspired from around the globe.

The massage techniques include inspiration from Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Balinese, Swedish & Shiatsu. There is an element of holistic body work that also stimulates the body’s energy centre’s known as the Chakra’s.

The massage medium used is according to client preference. Either an oil that fuses the principals of homeopathy & aromatherapy…known as Aromeopathy by Lilian Terry International or a purely organic blend of essential oils within an organic base oil by SOiL, both of which are locally produced! The massage was lovely and relaxing, but what I’ve never experienced before with a massage, is that Anna my therapist, did a little exercise to awaken the body again after the massage. Working from the toes up to the arms, a series of breathing and stretches were done which was great, as I always feel like a good stretch after a massage.

One also usually fills in a client card when one arrives at a new spa/wellness centre. Anna was really thorough at running through this with me, really understanding my concerns and my lifestyle. Anna also did a Chinese Facial Diagnosis which I found fascinating! i.e. if you have dark circles it could be related to your kidneys, i.e. drink more water.

“In terms of my Skin Reading, I always choose to fuse Western methods with Eastern philosophies regarding the various conditions of the skin. Chinese Facial Diagnosis is an extremely effective tool which I use & this allows me to view & understand the skin from a deeper level. The face is a map that represents our various internal organs & brings to light any energetic blockages within these parts of the body. For successful Skin Reading, I will always combine these two areas.” Says Anna.

This 60 Minute Kimakai Signature massage retails at R420 and there are loads more massages to choose from, from Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage to sports, pregnancy, hot stone and Indian Head Massage.
