Foundation tips & recommendations

I’m so thrilled that my dear friend Nicole Raab, freelance make-up artist & ex make-up artist for Estee Lauder, will be joining me regularly for make-up tips! This month Nicole educates us on how to avoid the “mask effect” and how to create beautiful skin through foundation.

Foundation Tips:

* Start with a clean, well moisturised face.

Primer: Nicole recommends Smash Box Photofinish primer all over the skin to smooth out pores ( “pollyfiller for the face”) and allows for easy application of your foundation.

Foundation Brush: A foundation brush should be used for the application of foundation. Dampen with water for a lighter coverage and wash weekly. (Fingers work just as well for those on a budget)

Foundation : Nicole loves Double Wear Light by Estee Lauder as it gives a light coverage with a long lasting effect with an SPF. Work from the nose outwards blending well with the flat side of the brush making sure to spread down the neck to avoid of the mask effect.

Concealer: YSL Touche Eclat is a winner for dark circles under the eyes as it’s light reflecting. You can apply Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer over for more coverage if needed as well as dab on any blemishes.

Powder: Almay Line Smoothing Press Powder or Minerlize Skin finish natural by M.A.C. is then lightly powdered over the T-Zone and spread over the rest of the face, paying special attention to any areas you’ve applied concealer.

Bronzer: Smash Box Baked Bronzer (This product has just won a Fairlady Magazine Best In Beauty Award)- With a brush, dust lightly round the forehead, on the temples and bring it down from ear towards mouth creating cheek bones. Then underneath the chin and a touch on the nose to give a natural glow.

Blusher: M.A.C’s Dainty for a natural pink blush on the apples of the cheeks when you smile.

Highlighter: M.A.C’s strobe or Estee Lauders Spot Light. Dab on top of the cheek bones to emphasize. Or, wear underneath foundation or mix in with foundation for an all over radiance.

And there you have it, your step by step guide to flawless and fabulous skin. xx
