Majeka House

I was very lucky to stay at the beautifully appointed Majeka House a couple weekends ago.

There were quite a few design elements that I could have popped into my handbag. Like this little gold pig.

I also loved this pot plant wall unit!

I just loved our room. Again there were so many cool design elements – aaah and a fire place. Perfect winter treat! I loved that if you get up in the middle of the night, as you put your feet on the floor off your bed, a light automatically turns on under your bed to illuminate the way.

While I was there I got to try out the new Crystals™ Himalayan Salt Crystal bed at the Sanctuary Spa. If you need some forced down time, then this treatment is for you. The first of its kind in South Africa, the salt crystal therapy, or halotherapy, is a completely non-invasive, deeply relaxing therapeutic treatment that involves nothing more than lying on a warm bed of salt crystals while enjoying the added therapeutic benefit of chromotherapy, or light therapy.

Says Majeka House:

“Crystals™ is a specially designed bed made with 150kg of fine Himalayan salt crystals (considered by many experts to be the purest and most mineral-rich salt on earth), heated to between 32°C and 40°C to maximize the benefits to the body and skin. The salt grains micro-massage the body while neutralizing the electromagnetic frequencies present in the environment. The heated salt crystals mould to the body’s shape, supporting it exactly where it needs to be held. The relaxing effect is not dissimilar to the effect of salt water keeping the body effortlessly afloat and in perfect alignment in a flotation pool.

When you breathe in salt-infused air at the ocean’s edge, the positive charge in the air is known for its feel-good, mood-enhancing benefits. Similarly, the Crystals™ heated salt crystals release ions by creating an aerosol effect, relaxing muscular and nervous tension, helping to reduce anxiety and insomnia, improving concentration and reinforcing the immune system. It also aids in decongesting the sinuses and the lungs. During the hour that you are relaxing on the bed, a spa therapist will give you a foot massage as an added treat.

The spa offers three therapy rooms, one of which is a double treatment room. When booking any of the other spa treatments on offer, such as a facial, it is a clever idea to maximize your time by booking the Crystals™ (the treatment costs R450 for an hour).”

I fell asleep icon smile Majeka House and was super relaxed afterwards. I really enjoyed the steam room and the delicious Moya Products there after too. A real ‘relax and unwind’ experience.
