BEAUTY FEATURE FRIDAY – CHELSEA AESTHETIC CENTRE

I was really lucky to be treated to a facial and spa pedicure at the Chelsea Aesthetic Centre in Wynberg. Stepping off the busy high street through the large gates was like stepping into another world. (Maybe Bali?) Soft sounds of water and Eastern music set the tone for a relaxing afternoon.

Now I’m not just saying this because it was free and I need to say say something (As I’d just keep quiet), but it literally was my best spa experience yet. From my therapist’s knowledge and advice regarding my skin to the extra attention to detail, it was all round wonderful.

After hoping into a little black boob tube toweling dress, my pedi was accompanied with a wonderful hand and arm massage where by my hands and feet where dipped in paraffin wax, which left my hands especially, feeling silky smooth. There was a lovely selection of nail colours and the foot massage was heavenly.

With my facial, my therapist asked me a few questions regrading my lifestyle, what my main concerns where and what I’d like to gain from my facial. She was really knowledgeable about my concerns and could tell me exactly what was causing them. I was really impressed by her and was made to feel really comfortable. Your skin and body is after all your personal space and so often we try to hide our faults and not talk about them. I felt rather reassured and uplifted leaving the spa.

With my facial came the most amazing back massage (well what she could do while I was lying on my back). So relaxing! I was never left alone. There was always some sort of massaging going on and I was so thankful for how quiet the spa was. I have often been to spa’s were there are therapists catching up outside your room when you just want silence. You’ve paid good money and you want to relax, not hear who’s the new boy on the scene.

Another thing that stood out for me was when the therapist wipes the mask or cleanser off your face with a warm damp towel, the towels smell of peppermint. It was so refreshing and something I haven’t experienced before. My favorite thing however was the Pollogen treatment. A 3 ball machine that gently rolls over the face. This was so relaxing.
