LOCAL LOVELIES PART 4 : BEAUTY FEATURE FRIDAY

For the next two weeks I’ll be guest blogging for the fabulous Kim Gray while she enjoys some time in exotic Bali. My job as editor of StyleScoop allows me the opportunity to try and test out a wide range of beauty products, and like most girls, finding new and exciting products is always fun.

I’ve made some amazing discoveries along the way, and while I can’t list them all here (we’d be here for hours, even days), I thought I’d share my favourite “must-haves” of the moment with you…

Finding the perfect foundation can be a tough task, but when you find it, you’ll realise it was well worth the search and agony. That’s exactly how I feel about Estee Lauder Double Wear. I got to sample the liquid and powder foundation recently and I’m totally hooked. The liquid foundation (10) offers all day coverage and long lasting wear and the powder compact (9) is a perfect purse essential and makes for a quick fix for any occasion.See Powder and Liquid.

I’m a huge fan of MAC makeup brushes. Really, I cannot live without my MAC brushes! Before I used MAC brushes I thought only pro’s could make makeup look magnificent, but these brushes allowed me to be my own pro and made applying makeup fun, easy and fabulous! They are quite pricey so make a point to invest in one every month. Start your collection with the MAC 190 foundation brush (8) and build your way up until you have your own collection. Cheap makeup brushes will give you cheap looking makeup so don’t skimp on your face.

Revlon make great eye shadows, and right now I’m loving their Berry Bloom 12-hour Colour Stay quad (7). I love pinks and purples and this quad offers lots of different combinations that look gorgeous or can be worn individually to fit your mood.

Another eye shadow favourite is Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadow in Vintage Violet (3). It offers a vibrant colour that stays put all day long. I also love that you can build onto the colour to intensify the purple or use a little for a day time ‘no fuss’ look.

When it comes to mascara, I’m MAC Zoom Lash’s (4) biggest fan! It gives my lashes va-va-volume and makes them look blacker than black

I love doing dramatic eyes, which means I have to keep my lips simple and subtle. Right now, YSL Nude Beige (5) is my handbag essential lipstick. The colour is soft and delicate and the product smells divine and leaves my lips feeling fabulously finished. This lippy also comes with a mirror on the outside of the cap (clever!) which makes applying it with perfection easy and compact.

For quick touchups and to hide black circles under my eyes I love YSL Touche Eclat (2). It covers and conceals without looking fake or caked.

A good bronzer is a daily makeup staple in my routine because I keep my face away from the sun as much as possible. A bronzer means I have that sun kissed skin without the sun and the one from Bobbi Brown (1) is my number one choice.

For nails, right now I’m into navy! It’s not quite as dramatic as black, yet has that rocker-edge and is very trendy right now. Loreal Resist & Shine Titanium (6) nail colour in navy offers chip-free nails that look vamp-a-licious and luxurious!

For more beauty features and to see what other products I’ve been playing around with be sure to check out StyleScoop (www.stylescoop.co.za) for all the deets. Next week I’ll tell you about my favourite hair care products so stay tuned…
