Win A Valentines Day Dinner With U Cook

I remember the first Valentines Day dinner my husband and I went on. The complimentary bubbly (with plastic tasting cherry) was awful, he stood on a sharp piece of metal in the door way causing a blood filled shoe and the weather was miserable- our choice of destination is what you’d call an epic fail!

So, if eating in is more your thing – U Cook are giving away a tasty Valentines Day Box for you to enjoy either cooking together or to surprise your loved one.

  1. In hindsight it wasn’t an epic fail because our lives changed forever and it was actually the greatest expression of love.

Almost 9 years ago, I was so uncomfortable and miserable and it just seemed to go on for ages. We ended up lying on the couch together and just cuddling on Valentine’s Day 2006. About two weeks later I couldn’t deny what seemed to be the obvious and tested – I was preggie with my first child 🙂

  2. It would have to be every single Valentine’s Day so far. My Birthday is on the 12th of Feb so whenever I do have a boyfriend, they tend to not bother to do much as I have already technically been treated. Big sigh! Winning this will be the perfect solution to my V-Day issues though. No guilt and delicious food! I’ll share this on Twitter 🙂

  3. Last year my boyfriend wanted to surprise me with a picnic on the beach. After driving around for ages we couldn’t find any parking at Clifton, so we headed to Bantry Bay. Having already missed the sunset because of the parking debacle, we settled down on the boulders at Queen’s Beach and unpacked the picnic. Only to be disturbed by a RAT, the biggest hairiest thing I have ever seen! Needless to say we headed home very quickly. A home cooked meal with no rats in sight sounds like a great choice for this year.

  4. My valentine’s day epic fail…my boyfriend had cooked a meal and had placed candles all over the room – on the floor. My long sheer dress attracted the flames and I caught on fire. I was hot…literally 🙂 Needless to say that we spent more time killing the flame, than enjoying the flame between us :-).

  5. I have never been taken by the idea of Valentines day, so a few years ago i actually forgot it was THE day. I adore flowers so I went out and bought myself the most gorgeous flowers ever. I was actually quite chuffed with myself. Then hubby came home with my favourite flowers, a massive bunch of them… He wasnt impressed with me at all cause he automatically assumed i was trying to send him a hidden message, lol.

  6. I won’t say it was an epic fail more of very crazy, random and unplanned but for our first Valentines Day together as a married couple, we ended up at the same restaurant as my in laws, with tables next to each other.

  7. Shared on Facebook! 🙂 I’ve never really had a Valentine’s Day fail… that I can remember! But we’ve never really celebrated it as we’ve never had the cash to do anything amazing. This year we are staying in as we are saving up to buy a house, so winning this U Cook box will be amazing! Would love to show my boyfriend that I can cook if I’m given the right ingredients and recipes 🙂 x

  8. Vaughn,

    Where do I start?

Booked a table at quite a fancy establishment on the Camps Bay Strip.

We arrive right on time but our table is not ready and by asking again its actually clear they did not reserve my table and over booked!

= ( I was so disappointed and irritated, I hated it and it was the worse. All dressed up and nowhere to go and CT is fully booked on Vday.

  9. My boyfriend and I decided to do Valentine’s day dinner at his place last year. I managed to find my old fondue set, and went to buy a bunch of fondue goodies that we could cook in oil (chicken strips and cocktail cheese grillers) and dip into melted chocolate (strawberries and marshmallows) before heading over to his place. Once we’d unpacked everything, I realized I’d forgotten the special little fondue forks, so we drove back to my place to fetch them. Upon lifting up the wooden lid of the chest in which the fondue forks were, I knocked my one of my mom’s african clay pots over – shattering it. After cleaning that up (by this time it was getting late and we were getting hungry), we proceeded back to my boyfriend’s place. Everything was laid out and we were finally ready to begin our romantic fondue by candle light. About two minutes into the process, we the fondue set ran out of gas while heating up the oil in which to cook our chicken strips and cocktail cheese grillers. I actually couldn’t believe what was happening! We ended up eating microwaved cocktail cheese grillers and roasting marshmallows over the candles! Truly an EPIC FAIL xx

  10. I was once set up on a blind date for valentines day.. i had spoken to him on the phone and he sounded great.. we decided to meet up for a bite to eat..at the spur!!! Nonetheless when he arrived, he looked nothing like he sounded.. and looked 10 years my senior. I did the polite thing and stayed for a quick bite.. When we had finished, he said he was still hungry, and then ordered another burger! so the date was prolonged.. Was an uncomfortable evening and he still had the audacity to ask if we were going back to my place for coffee!! Erm… Hell no!. Thankfully I eventually did meet my Knight in shining armour and am happily married now 🙂

  11. When everyone else in my high-school got craploads of roses from all the all-guy schools around I got one, which sounds pretty chill. But only pretty chill until you are informed that it was dead. Superdead. And dyed black. [Yaaaaaaaay].
