So last week I told you that I had started a 6 week Banting Course. If you missed it, read here. Not only am I learning delicious new recipes, like this almond flour Banting pizza, but I’m also learning incredible and shocking facts about the food industry, how our bodies really respond to the different foods we consume and the myths around sugar, carbs and fat!

So I said I’d share my goals and how they are going:

Goal 1: More Energy – to be able to get up easier in the morning / rid that afternoon nap fealing

Goal 2: Lose 2cm and firm up – your coach will measure your waist/hips and weigh you

Goal 3: Combat sugar and wine cravings ( You know that 4pm feeling – I need sugar! I’m so tired / Is it wine-o-clock yet?)

So Far:

1.) I am not only feeling more energy, (some days more that others) I am thinking clearer, been more organised and motivated! Getting up has been easier – I’m finding I have more time in the mornings now. Clearly I am not pushing snooze like I used to.

2.) I lost 1.5 cm around the hips after 3 wks of Banting, lost +- 1.5kg. Waist is still the same

3.) I don’t crave sugar anymore and some evenings I don’t even think of wine. I feel so good off it, it actually beats the temptation. So for now I’m saving it for occasions. If I do feel for something sweet or decadent – I have a spoon of Macadamia Nut Butter – FULL of fat and Omega 3’s. It keeps me satisfied for ages and boosts energy!

So after pretty much after only 1 month of Banting, I’ve almost reached my goals.

Some Facts I’ve Learnt: (And these are just a few, the course will really open up a world of  WOW-I-NEED-TO-EAT-BETTER! I’m learning loads!)

*Sugar causes the body to store fat, not fat

*Seed oils are toxic – not butter, cream coconut oil etc

*Regular consumption of healthy fat ( extra virginactive olive oil / avocado oil / fish oil/ raw nuts/ fatty cuts of meT/ some diary) lower heart disease, risk of cancers and strokes. These fats lower LDL “bad cholesterol and raise HDL ” good cholesterol”

*Sugar free is still a no-no! These products are loaded with unhealthy sugar replacements – i.e. aspartame

*Pretty much all soy and corn products are GMO foods.

* Simply avoid anything packaged / that comes in a rapper

The 6 Week banting Course will enlighten you on what you are putting into you body ( Think pesticides/ hormones etc) and explain in detail – the myths around fat – and how your body will thrive off it!

Doesn’t look like diet food does it! 🙂 That’s because Banting is not a diet, it’s a way of life! And so far it’s just been delicious all the way! For more on the course and what to expect, results wise – visit www.lowcarbhighfat.co.za, it’s life changing!

Hi Kim, Banting absolutely works! So glad to hear you are doing so well 🙂

I’ve been eating this way about 3 months now. It started off with a health challenge at work that I did with all my colleagues. We all did very well and now I am continuing it. Wholefoods are definitely the way forward. While I may have the odd glass of wine here and there, it’s what you do 80-90% of the time that matters. And for the first time in my life I don’t have to feel guilty for eating butter!

Do you eat the puding every day or only on special occasions? Also the brownies?

Def not every day – I usually do dark chocolate every now and then. Only special occasions like Christmas – do I really cheat 🙂

Banting since Jan 2015. Beer gut gone!
AMAZING. Lost 5kg in 2 weeks, but fairly static since. Target is another 10kg.
